Obituary for Jimmy D. Simmons
Jimmy Simmons, 56, passed away Saturday January 10, 2015 at hid home. Memorial services are 6 PM Friday January 16, 2014 at Souder Family Funeral Home with a visitation from 5-6 PM.

Jimmy Simmons was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer in August of 2014, but that is not his story. Jimmy a father of 3, (Alexis, Travis, Jessie) and grandfather of 4 has lived a life too full for his story to be about what brings us here today. He has touched too many people in a positive manner for us to focus on the negative. Everyone who knows him knows that he would not want it that way. Jimmy a member of the Local 10 Iron Workers Union has spent his life serving his faith, his family, and his friends. His door has never closed to anyone who needed a second chance, a place to stay until they got back on their feet, or just a few minutes of his time to get their head back on straight. Jimmy stands for something that everyone strives to be. A man who treats others as we all wish to be treated. His faith has allowed him to take comfort in knowing that regardless of the outcome, his diagnosis will not define him. What defines him is his richness in family and friends, and his ability to see the good in everyone. These traits will long be remembered by everyone Jimmy has touched throughout his life.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his mother, Geneva VanHooser and brothers, Timmy Simmons and Freddy Keenan. Survivors include his children, Travis Taylor, Alexis Simmons and Jessica Castel; father, Doyle Simmons and wife, Kathryn; half brother, Dale Brook; half sister, Darla Glunt; grandchildren, Elyssa Taylor, Maximus Taylor, Hudsen Hellbauch and Kierra Simmons.

Please help celebrate the life of Jimmy by sharing a memory or expressing your condolences to the family.
