Obituary for Randall Scott Bell
Randall (“Randy”) Scott Bell, 58, passed away at home Monday, May 2, 2022 after living with cancer for more than six years. A celebration of life gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, May 21st at 11am at IWerx Gladstone, 7001 N. Locust Street. Memorial contributions are suggested to The Salvation Army, where Randy cooked holiday meals for more than 25 years, or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Randy was preceded in death by his father, Don Bell. Survivors include his mother, Shirley Bell; children, Bran-don Bell, Jake Bell, Janae Bell, and Joe Bell; siblings, Shari Bell and Craig Bell (Luda); niece Rose Bell; neph-ews Sasha and Misha Bell; along with the hundreds who called him friend.

Randy was born on September 26, 1963 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Don and Shirley Bell. He grew up in Gladstone, Missouri and graduated from Oak Park High School in 1982. Following graduation, he worked as a chef and carpenter, and was highly skilled in laying hardwood floors and building custom decks. Later, he graduated with an associate degree from Maple Woods and worked at DST as a computer programmer for 25 years, which he retired from in 2018.

Randy always had a story ready to share and a penchant for making those around him smile and laugh. He loved spending time with his kids and dogs, cultivating his army of tomato plants in the garden, rocking to tunes while throwing horseshoes with friends at the pool in his backyard, golfing, fishing for spoonbill, hunting birds and mushrooms, watching Western reruns, cheering on the Chiefs, floating down rivers, and riding on the back of his Harley. He volunteered for most of his life with The Salvation Army, Boy Scouts and youth sports as a coach.

Randy Bell, tough as nails – but with a big heart and generous spirit for life’s most vulnerable, and for those he loved.

Please help celebrate the life of Randy by sharing a memory or expressing your condolences to the family.

“Courage is being scared to death, but saddling up anyway.”
― John Wayne
