Sherrill Anne Buckle (McMichael) passed surrounded by family in her home February 3, 2022, in Kansas City, Missouri. She was 61 years old.
Franklin S. McMichael was born on November 3rd, 1938, to his father Lawrence (39) and mother Nell (25) in Alabama. He married Shirley Anne Noyes in September 1959 in Alabama. Tragically, he died at the age of 21, on December 7th, 1959 before meeting his beautiful daughter.
Sherrill was born May 21, 1960 to parents Shirley S. Noyes (1939-2014) and Franklin S. McMichael (1938-1959) in Newton, Kansas. She grew up surrounded by the love and shenanigans of her three sisters and stepfather. After graduating high school, Sherrill continued her education by getting an Associate’s degree, and dabbled in stenography courses. Sherrill spent time working as a waitress, at temp services, and lastly as a Purchasing Agent for the Kansas City School District. A dear friend, Nancy, introduced Sherrill to the love of her life, John William Buckle. They married on June 29th, 1985 in Newton, Kansas. They moved to Kansas City, Missouri in 1987 and embarked on the journey of raising a family. Sherrill and John created three beautiful children: Arthur Samuel, Alice Christine and Rachel Elizabeth Buckle. Her family and scripture are what she treasured most in life.
Sherrill could be caught smiling most when having loved ones together with great food, excellent conversation, and good games or while simply watching an old western in bed with her best friend, John. Regardless of the game, Sherrill was always a popular pick for teams. She was known amongst her family and friends as being the best Trivial Pursuit, Sequence, or foosball partner, among many other games.
Sherrill cherished her last few years spent with her two young “kitty cats” as she would say, Captain Jack and Pounder. She adored cats all her life and had multiple pets through her years. She often enjoyed her time by jamming out to music and re-watching John Wayne films, Sherrill could be found experimenting in the kitchen with pizza crust or making her famous pasta salad and lasagna. She adored her granddaughter, Alice, and enjoyed their moments together. Sherrill’s smile could light up an entire room, with her chittering laugh and youthful spirit. She will be greatly missed by anyone who was lucky enough to be graced with her kindness, humor, and love.
She is preceded in death by her father Franklin S. McMichael, grandfather Doyle E. Noyes, beloved grandmother Alice D. Alflen, infant Alice C. Buckle, grandfather Howard C. Tedder, grandmother Doris M. Northrop, brother-in-law Gary S. Buckle, cherished mother Shirley Anne Noyes, mother-in-law Frances L. Buckle, and brother-in-law James Buckle, among other uncles, aunts, family members and dear friends. Sherrill and her family feel deeply in their hearts that she has a warm welcoming party on the other side of life.
Sherrill is survived by her spouse John, son Arthur, daughter Rachel, and granddaughter Alice. Along with beloved family and friends in Newton, Kansas including sisters Christy, Jeanetta, Missy, and stepfather Grady, as well as many more cherished by Sherrill.
Please help celebrate the life of Sherrill by sharing a memory or expressing your condolences to the family.
