William James Gentry was born on February 12, 1939 to Joseph and Irona Gentry in Gonzales County Texas.
He was preceded in death by Joseph and Irona Gentry (parents), Betty Jo Gentry Hays (sister) and William James Gentry II (son).
William received his education from Antelope High School in Wellton Arizona.
He later joined the U.S. Navy where he became an Airmen serving during the Vietnam War. After his military service he worked for Ford Motor Company from where he retired after forty years of service.
His family knew William as Uncle Bill. But his friends affectionately knew him, as Big G. He had a laugh that was contagious and a personality that was the life of any party. He was the type of person to go out of his way to help those he cared about and if needed, always ready to lend a hand. He was an avid fisherman and taught all his children and grandchildren the art of fishing. If someone was a close friend and had the time, they would find themselves on the bank of a pond or a lake. He loved to be out doors. He was well dressed and kept his car cleaner than the law allowed.
William departed this life on Tuesday February 19, 2019 in Kansas City, Missouri. William leaves his Sisters Dorothy, Ethel Mae, and Ellorise; his children Heath and Kendra; his grandchildren Sha'Quala, Jason, Olivia, and Joseph; plus extended family to cherish and reminisce his memories.
We the family of William James Gentry, would like to express our appreciation and thanks to our many friends for your expression of sympathy, support, and prayers during this time of bereavement.
Please help celebrate the life of William by sharing a memory or expressing your condolences to the family.
