Vernon Christopher (Chris) Gregory December 25, 1959—December 17, 2019
Vernon Christopher (Chris) Gregory, age 59, passed away at his home on December 17, 2019 in Royce City, Texas. Chris was born on Christmas Day 1959 in Kansas City, Missouri. The oldest of 6 children, Chris was steady, gentle, kind-hearted and generous.
After graduation from St. Mary’s High School in Independence, Missouri he went on to complete a program in electronics in Kansas City. Upon graduation from the program he was offered and accepted a job in Texas with Rockwell. Although the company changed owners several times, Chris remained with them for over 30 years.
An avid sports fan, he especially enjoyed Nascar, golf, football, hockey and more. Although living in Texas, he continued to cheer on his hometown Chiefs. A man of contrasts and varied interests, Chris also enjoyed crocheting and was devoted to his beloved cats.
Chris was preceded in death by his father William Gregory, his stepfather Jimmie Chapin, and his mother Carol Chapin. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Tayona (TJ) Gregory, stepchildren Angela (Charles) Griffis and Randall Murf and many grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Mark (Sendy) Gregory, Murfreesboro, TN; Glenn Gregory, Warsaw, MO; Theresa (Tony) Baker, Kansas City, MO; Angela Rose, Mosby, MO; and Mark (Tara) Chapin, Willard, MO, as well as many nieces, nephews and a large extended family.
