Obituary for Thomas (Tom) Arther Fisher
Thomas (Tom) Arther Fisher, 80, of Kansas City MO passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 1, 2021.
He was born September 2, 1940 to Glen and Frances (Meulmester) Fisher. He grew up in Kansas City, Missouri and graduated from North Kansas City High School. He attended Baker University and received his degree in accounting from LaSalle University in Chicago.
Tom’s last position was working as a Staff Accountant / Office Manager for over 22 years at Fern Exposition Services in Kansas City MO until the company significantly downsized on July 2020 due to the COVID pandemic and the negative effect on the conventions and trade show business. Tom is survived by his lifetime partner and soulmate of 31 years, James (Jim) H. Erickson of Kansas City; daughter Karen Campbell (husband Jack Campbell) from Lake Elsinore California; son Daren Fisher (wife Sharon Fisher) from Lucas Texas; grandsons Patrick Fisher and Derek Fisher from Lucas Texas and now both attending the University of Arkansas; nieces; nephews; great nieces; great nephew; and a huge number of friends for which many he considered part of his extended family.
Except for work obligations, Tom and Jim were always together in everything they did. Where you saw one, you saw both. Together they found true friendship, companionship, and most of all happiness in their love for each other with a bond many do not ever have a chance to realize and experience. Tom was extremely proud of his children Karen and Daren for all their accomplishments. Tom’s grandsons Patrick Fisher and Derek Fisher brought him a bounty of pride, happiness, and joy in everything throughout their childhood and continue today through their young adult lives. He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Frances Fisher, and his brother, Leon Fisher. They have now been reunited to watch over the many loved ones left behind.
His spirit for the well-being of others, huge heart for life, and contagious laugh will be missed by so many near and far, but not ever be forgotten.
Please help celebrate the life of Tom by sharing a memory or expressing your condolences to the family.
