Obituary for Thelma Polly Jones
POLLY (THELMA PAULINE) JONES, Kansas City, Missouri, died of cancer on May 1st, 2013, at her son’s home in Smithville. Memorial service is planned for Saturday, May 11th at 3 p.m. at her beloved Harmony Vineyard church in Kansas City North. Visitation will begin at 2.p.m. Contributions in lieu of flowers to Harmony Vineyard 600 NE 46th St KCMO 64116 or kittycatconnection.org.
Polly was born January 7, 1923, in Kansas City, Missouri. She graduated from Central High School and attended the Kansas City Art Institute before working at Hallmark. She married Ollie Jones after World War 2 and they were inseparable until his death in 1986.
Polly worked as a Lunch Room Monitor at Chinn Elementary school and volunteered as a Boy Scout Den Mother and president of Chinn Elementary School’s PTA. She was a faithful, founding member of the Harmony Vineyard church. She was an animal lover, a prayer warrior and she had a passion for bible study.
She is survived by two sons Damon P (Judy) Jones, Brad J (Sharon) Jones, granddaughter Kelly Haynes (Ethan), great-grandson Landon Haynes and her faithful companion cat Jack.
