Obituary for Susanne Hayes Drayer
Susanne Hayes Drayer, 67, passed away Wednesday March 9, 2022. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at Gashland Presbyterian Church. A visitation will be Monday evening March 14, 2022 at the church from 5-7:30 PM. Memorial contributions are suggested to Gashland Presbyterian Church.
Susanne was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Marylinn Hayes. Survivors include her husband, Robert G. Drayer; children, Cheryl (Bob) McMullen, Jeff Drayer, and Rebecca Drayer Mortera; grandchildren, Bobby and Jack McMullen, Dan and David Drayer, and Elliott Mortera; siblings, Tom (Diann) Hayes, Nick (Joei) Hayes, Dan (Nancy) Hayes, David (Linda) Hayes, Jane (Wayne) Johnk, Janice (Steve) Britton, Elizabeth Cotter, Gwen (Mark) Prentice, Bill (Bonnie) Hayes, and Kelly (Heather) Hayes; along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Susanne was born on January 8, 1955 in Manchester, IA the daughter of Claude and Marylinn Hayes. She grew up in Iowa and graduated from Iowa State University in 1978. Following her graduation she moved to Gladstone where she was a lifelong resident and started her career at Farmland Industries. Susanne received her Master’s Degree in Management from Baker University in 1993. She then received her Master’s of Science Degree in Adult Continuing Education from K-State University in 2003. After many years at Farmland Industries she made the move to Zurich Insurance Group where she retired.
Susanne loved traveling, gardening, volunteering at her church and especially spending time with her family and friends. Since joining Gashland Presbyterian Church decades ago, Susanne and Bob have let their love of Jesus shine in the church and beyond. Her gift of hospitality, both within the church and in the home, has warmed the hearts of so many. She was a leader, a coach, and above all a lover of the Lord. 0
