Obituary for S. Lee Liebling
Saul (Lee) Liebling
S. Lee Liebling, 93, passed away on August 11, 2013. Lee was born in Pittsburgh, PA on August 25, 1919. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1940 with a B.S. in Chemistry. He participated in drama and music.
In 1944 he served in the U.S. Navy and was awarded the Victory Medal. He married Margaret Rinier on August 24, 1946. Lee and Margaret raised three loving children Gary, Doug and Jan. Lee also has two grandsons, Riley and Derek Byrne.
Lee worked in the agricultural chemical industry most of his career, retiring in 1988. Lee was very kind, fun-loving and intelligent, enjoying word puzzles and games, chess and stamp collecting. He was proud member of Mensa.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents Nathan and Rose Liebling; brother, George Liebling. Lee is survived by his wife, Margaret of the home; sons, Gary (Stephanie) of Tonganoxie, KS. Doug (Beth) of Parkville, MO; daughter, Jan Byrne of Kansas City, MO; sister Ann Meritzer; grandsons, Riley and Derek Byrne of Kansas City, MO.
Lee’s family would like to thank all those who have provided the support he has received over the past several months.
Memorial services will be 2 pm on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at Souder Family Funeral Home with a visitation from 1-2 pm. Burial will immediately follow at White Chapel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family would like to suggest donations be made in his name to City Union Mission 1100 E. 11th Street, Kansas City, MO 64106 or the NorthCare Hospice House 2900 Clay Edwards Dr., North Kansas City, MO 64116.
