Obituary for Roger A. Wagner
Roger A. Wagner, 69, passed away March 22, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be 1 PM Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at Souder Family Funeral Home, burial in Leavenworth National Cemetery. A visitation will be from 6-8 PM Tuesday at the Funeral home.
Roger was born October 30, 1944 in Kansas City, Kansas to Harley and Grace Wagner. He was a Vietnam Veteran serving in the United States Navy for 6 years. He worked for TWA as a mechanic for 22years and retired from American Airlines in 2010. He was also a volunteer for the Platte County Sheriffs Department for 22 years.Roger was a great man and a good hard worker and he loved doing for others. He was a good father and grandfather, and my husband for 18 years and my buddy for 21 years. He married Connie Coker in his early 30s and adopted her two sons Scott and Shaun. Together they had Lindsay, his only biological daughter which he loved more than life. Roger and I met 1992 and married 1995 Sept 24th in Hawaii at Diamond Head Park. He was a great step dad and was the only real father my kids ever had. They loved him and always will. A special thanks to my son who was there thru the end consoling and holding him down. Roger fought to the very end. Also for taking him to see his new grandson in Iowa a week before he died. My love and thanks to my daughter and family who has been our rock and my best friend. Thanks to Shaun for calling, texting, sending cards and just being the great person he is. Roger was the strongest man we knew. He was my rock when I needed him and the love our lives. The emptiness we feel will not be filled easily. It was his wish to die at home and even though it was the hardest thing in our life he did and we are greatful for that. I know he's in heaven and is still taking care of us forever. My heart breaks for his children and grandchildren and I know he loved them so much. Thanks to his friends who have helped thru the time he was so sick. Thanks to hospice who made the process bearable.
Survivors include his wife, Deborah; daughter, Lindsay Wagner; sons, Shaun and Scott Wagner and 7 grandchildren; step children, Gina Brumet and William Engler; 5 step grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Please help celebrate the life of Roger by sharing a memory or expressing your condolences to the family.
