Rita Mae Jacobsmeyer, 79, passed away Tuesday April 25, 2023. A visitation will be Monday, May 8, 10:30-12, with the Funeral Mass at 12:00PM and a luncheon following at Holy Family Catholic Church, 919 NE 96th St. She will be buried next to her husband and son. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to ALS TDI at als.net or HARK at als.org.
Rita had ALS and the disease progressed very rapidly.
Rita was born February 15, 1944 in St Louis, Missouri to Joseph and Margaret Albert. She attended Our Lady of Sorrows for first to eighth grade years. She graduated from Bishop Du Bourg High School in 1962 and attended St Louis University for 1 year.
She was a dancer her entire life, participating in many shows and musicals, a devout Catholic (with a sense of humor), an avid reader, a parent to a disabled son, a supporter of many charities, and a watcher of all the old movies. In her later years she danced in esteemed Billie Mahoney’s tap line around town as well as traveled to and danced in NYC, which was her dream.
Rita was known to everyone as a sweet, sweet lady. She had so many friends that sometimes her room at the nursing home felt like grand central station.
Rita is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Jacobsmeyer and son, Mark Jacobsmeyer. Survivors include her daughter, Carrie Dienhart (Mark); son, Chris Jacobsmeyer (Kelley); sister, Mary Jo Pasqualone; brother, Richard Albert (Viola); grandchildren, Louis Dienhart and Mark Helton.
Please help celebrate the life of Rita by sharing a memory or expressing your condolences to the family.
