Obituary for Ricky G. McWilliams
Ricky G. McWilliams, 48, passed away August 11, 2013 at his home. Funeral services will be 11 AM August 16, 2013 at Gashland Baptist Church, 601 NE Barry Road, Kansas City, MO 64155 with a visitation from 10-11 AM. Burial in Second Creek Cemetery immediately following the service. Memorial contributions are suggested to Souder Family Funeral Home to help offset funeral expenses. Rick was born in Carrolton, MO on June 13, 1965 to the parents of Roger Bruce McWilliams & Barbara McWilliams/McFarland. Rick had several brothers & sisters, Tony Sanderson, Roger Bruce McWilliams Jr., Phyllis Germen, Jerry McWilliams, Vicky Warner, Peggy Rice, Jenny Lee, Randy McWilliams & Molly McWilliams (deceased). Rick has 3 children, Joseph Ryan McWilliams, Levi Dale McWilliams & Wesley Kendrick McWilliams. Lesia’s children are Louis James Lane & Sarah Louise Zirkle. Lesia’s siblings include: Rosemary McFarland, Sherry Arbuckle, Roy Williams Lane, Franky Charles Lane (deceased), Ira Dewayne Lane, Bobby Joe Lane & Anna Marie Ibrihan. Rick met Lesia Ellen Lane, which he nicknamed “Marie” a little over 10 years ago. They fell in love with each other and were married on September 19, 2004. Their love for one another has continued to grow over the years. Lesia became pregnant with their first child, but the baby miscarried! They do not have any children together, but they have 2 dogs they both adore, Madison & Nicholas. Rick has always been handy with his hands and started his own business in remodeling & contracting. They have purchased several rent homes over the years and Rick maintained the homes and Lesia leased them out. Rick loved the Lord and they both made Gashland Baptist Church their church home about 4 years ago. He and Lesia would go to gas stations and other busy places and pass out tracts. They would share the love of Jesus with anyone that would listen. Rick helped several times with repairs around the church. About 2 years ago Rick developed a tumor that was cancerous, but the Doctors were able to remove it. They warned Rick that this type of cancer could resurface at any time. Rick fought a good fight, but the cancer began to spread at such a rate that the Doctors felt that there wasn’t much more that they could do for him. Hospice was called in about 2 months ago and on Sunday, August 11, 2013 around 4:40 p.m. the Lord came to escort Rick to his permanent home in heaven. Rick leaves behind his wife Lesia, his Mother Barbara, siblings, children and a host of friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him! Keep his memories alive!
