Obituary for Nellie Jean Dustin
Nellie Jean Dustin, 91, of Independence, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at her home.

Jean was born in Arion, Iowa, to James and Mary Ellen (Talcott) Allen on November 27, 1922, married E.
C. (Bill) Dustin, on August 16, 1947 and had four children; Mary Jo, Susan Kay, Carol Sue, and Shirley Jean.

Jean worked as a telephone operator in Audubon, Iowa before she became secretary to the principal at Audubon High School.
She was secretary there for 25 years. Soon after her husband's death in 1988, she moved to Independence, Missouri.
She was an active musician. She sang solos and played piano at weddings, funerals, and churches in the Audubon area. She accompanied music students for music contest solos for many years. After moving to Independence, she gave piano lessons and continued to play for church. She attended the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints while living in Iowa. After moving to Independence she attended Mount Zion Restoration Branch.

She was preceded in death by her daughters Susan Kay, Carol Sue, Shirley Jean and husband Bill Dustin.
Her survivors include her daughter Mary Jo Stayton and husband James, grandchildren Andrew Stayton and wife Lauren; Mary Reed and husband Nathan; Margaret Fountain and husband Joseph and great granddaughter Madelyn Grace Reed; sister Inez McCaslen of Sioux City, Iowa, and many nieces and nephews.

Arrangements: Souder Funeral Home, Kansas City, Missouri, Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon, Iowa, and memorial service in Independence, Missouri at Restoration Church of Jesus Christ, 919 S. Delaware, Independence, Missouri (formerly Second Church). Visitation, 1:00 p.m. service at 2:00p.m.
