Obituary for Melissa Colwell
Melissa Anna May Colwell (Ann, Dolly, Mom, Granny), 81, of Kansas City, MO, passed away Nov. 20, 2013 at St. Luke’s Northland Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Ann was born in Canute, OK on Feb. 3, 1932. She was married to Kenneth Colwell on April 7, 1951. They were happily married for 60 years. She was preceded in death by Kenneth on April 15, 2011. Ann enjoyed spending time with her family, bird watching and growing flowers and plants. Ann is survived by her daughter Linda Marshall and her son Scott Marshall; her son Ken Colwell and his wife Jamie and their children, Adam and Tina Reeves (Gunner), Andrew and Melissa Reeves (Kaitlyn, Ryan), Sara and Donald Jamerson (Caden, Kyler, Morgan), Crystal and Mel Conklin, and Sarah and Jason Crooks (Caleb, Christian, Sammy Jo, one on the way); her son Jack Colwell and his wife Sherri and their children, Zachary and Lorraine Colwell (Nika, Benjamin , Isaac, one on the way), Molly and Garrett Kramer (William, Violet Mae), Tyler and Sadie Colwell, Grace Colwell and Jackson Colwell; and her daughter Kimberly Knox and her husband Clyde and their children, Houston and Jackie Knox (Trent, Brady), Jennifer Campbell, Lindsay Knox and Kacey Knox. She also had many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great, great nieces and great, great nephews. She is also survived by one brother, Garland Lawson and wife Deloris of Henryetta, OK, three sisters, Mary Brock and husband AB of Okemah, OK, Faye Rogers of Henryetta, OK, and Donna Simmons of Paden, OK, and her brother and sister in law, Bob and Judy Colwell of Longview, TX. She was preceded in death by her three brothers, Bill, Grover and Bud Lawson, her two sisters, Sue Vincent and Jeannie Gibson, and sister in law Billie Dillon and her husband Harvey. Funeral services will be at 3:00pm Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at Souder Family Funeral Home with a visitation from 2 -3pm. Her service will be officiated by Pastor/Elder John Worley of Faith Community Church. Burial will be in Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS, with her husband. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Chaplain Renita Walker at St. Luke’s Northland Hospital. Thanks also to many friends and family for their love, prayers and support.
