Obituary for Marilyn Sue Hilbert

Marilyn Sue Hilbert, age 61 of Liberty, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly on January 8, 2023.

Marilyn was born on July 27, 1961 in Monterey Park, California. She graduated from St. Luke’s School of Nursing as an RN and received her bachelor's degree from Oklahoma Wesleyan. Marilyn went on to complete her master’s degree at the University of Phoenix. She was a nurse for 40 years and her career spanned from being a labor and delivery nurse, to a director of nursing in a hospital and nursing instructor at a 4-year college. She was one of the most intelligent and pragmatic people, but also a fierce advocate who could surprise you with her tenderness.

Marilyn is preceded in death by her mother, Suzanne Elaine, and brother David Jeffrey and is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of 42 years, Keith; son, Zachary; daughter, Ashlie; father, David; sister, Margery; brother Christopher; brother Gregory; brother Kevin; six grandsons and one granddaughter; and innumerable other family members and friends.

An open memorial service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at The Light KC, 10001 W 88th St, Overland Park, KS 66212. For anyone unable to attend, the service will be livestreamed. If desired, friends may make memorial contributions at .
