Obituary for Lora Bernice Sievert
Lora Bernice (Ballou) Sievert, born in Grant City in Worth County, Missouri on June 27, 1934, passed into the loving arms of her Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, on February 5, 2022. Lora was 87 years old. She lived with her husband in their home in Gladstone, MO.

Lora was the eldest daughter of Raymond Sylvanus Ballou and Velva Isabelle (Flannigan) Ballou. She grew up in northern Missouri until fifth grade when her family moved to Kansas City, Missouri. She graduated from North Kansas City High School and chose a career as a secretary.

She met the love of her life, Gustav (known to her as Gale), on a blind date set up by her friend and his sister, Jane. They married on August 14, 1954, at St. Matthew’s Evangelical and Reformed Church of Riverside in Platte County, MO. They began their married life the same day Gale was drafted in the United States Army. After boot camp, they were stationed in England where they created some of their fondest memories. Once back in the states, they made their home in Gladstone, Missouri. Lora gave birth to three sons and one daughter, becoming a stay-at-home mother surrounding her children with much love and devotion. Her faith in God and Jesus Christ was important to her which was conveyed in the way she interacted and loved others. She was a beloved mother who made so many precious memories and traditions for her family. Her family was everything to her. She was an accomplished pianist, gifted in oil and watercolor painting, a wonderful cook, and a wonderful grandmother. She loved interacting and playing games with her grandchildren and great grandchildren!

Lora leaves behind her husband of 67 years, Gustav Gale Sievert, her son Mark Alan; Stephen Warren and daughter-in-law Kelly; her daughter, Lisa Gayle and son-in-law, Mark (Bo) Bozarth; and her daughter-in-law Kathy Robertson Sievert, her late son David’s wife. She also leaves behind eight beloved grandchildren, Marissa Williams (Anthony), Brooke, Joshua Bozarth (Rachel), Matthew (Liz), Nathaniel Bozarth (Monica), Delaney, Chandler, and Adam; as well as seven beloved great-grandchildren, Emma, Hannah, Joel, Mackenzie, Zoey, Eliza Jane, and Benjamin. She leaves behind many faithful friends from her church, Lindenwood Baptist. Lora leaves behind an enduring legacy of faith that she shared with her children and has been passed on to her grandchildren and great grandchildren, three generations.

She was preceded in death by her eldest son David Gustav, her parents, Raymond and Velva Ballou; her brothers Richard and Terry; sister Ila Mattox; her father-in-law Gustav W. H. Sievert and mother-in-law, Ada E.C. Bahr Sievert; and brothers-in-law Zolen, David and Vernon; and sisters-in-law Pauline Mueller, Vera Crosser, and Jane Young-Belk.
