Obituary for Lillian M King
Lillian Margaret King, 96, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, July 12, 2017, in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Wilfred “Jim” King, and beautiful daughter, Lynda M. King-Donaldson in December 2015. Lillian was born August 24,1920 in Detroit, Michigan to her parents Ed and Frances (Laskowski) Thomas. She was raised in Ferndale, Michigan and later lived in Berkley until the last four years of her life. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish in Oak Park, MI. Lillian was a homemaker and loved to bake and sew. She often volunteered at the Capuchin Soup Kitchen in Detroit, and was a Eucharistic minister visiting the sick at William Beaumont Hospital and those who were homebound. Lillian loved music, loved to dance the Polka, and was a dedicated Michigan Wolverines fan. She cared deeply for others, and will be dearly missed. Lillian is survived by four children; Gary King (Helen) of Tunkhannock, PA, Richard King of Taylor, MI, Greg King of Lansing, MI and Annie King-Garcia (John) of Lee’s Summit Mo, fourteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. A Mass will be held for Lillian at Holy Spirit Catholic Church 1800 SW State Route 150, Lee’s Summit, MO on Wednesday, July 19, at 11:00a.m. Lillian’s interment will take place at Our lady of Perpetual Help in Oak Park Michigan with a memorial mass at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Capuchin Soup Kitchen 1820 Mt Elliott St. Detroit, Michigan 48207 (www.cskdetroit.org).
