Obituary for Katherine Mae Kleinow
Katherine "Katie" Kleinow, 26, of Kansas City passed away in her home on January 13th, 2016.
Katie was born June 25, 1989 in Kansas City, Missouri to Jeff and DeEtta Kleinow. She grew up in the northland with her younger sister Allison. Graduated Oak Park High School where she enjoyed playing on the softball and soccer teams.
Katie was a free spirit and enjoyed being artistic. She was quite the photographer. She loved to explore downtown Kansas City and take photographs. Spending time in Iowa with her paternal grandparents and cousins created many fond memories. She said the memories put a smile on her face.
Katie welcomed her second family, the Jacobs, in 2004 and developed an interest in go-carts. She also gained two step sisters, Camille and Callie, along with her step father Dennis.
During the past few years Katie struggled with the demons of schizophrenia which consumed her life. This was a very difficult journey for Katie and her family who always hoped she would find the path to healing. Family and friends hope to find peace knowing she is no longer fighting the demons.
Katie is survived by many family and friends who loved her and will miss her greatly. She was preceded in death by her father, Jeff and her maternal grandfather, Jim.
