Katherine (Kathy) Rose Viesselman passed away December 24, 2023 at North Kansas City Hospital. Kathy was born March 2, 1953 in Kansas City, Missouri, to Robert and Joy Hodes.
Survivors include her husband, Barry Viesselman of 47 years, the love of her life; daughter, Katie (Viesselman) Thorne (45), son in law Brandon Thorne; granddaughter, Bentley Thorne (15), and grandson Hunter Thorne (12); son, Chris Viesselman (41) and daughter in law Samantha Viessleman; step grandchildren, Maya Wigginton & Bradford Wigginton; 11 brothers and sisters (Jody, Debbie, Connie, Teresa, Susie, Patty, Mickey, Jeanie, Bobby, Andy, Adam) and many other extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, (Robert and Joy Hodes); grandmother and grandfather, (Herman and Katherine Hodes) and maternal grandmother, Loura Rose Ashbrook.
Kathy was a loving mother, daughter, sister, wife, and teacher. She taught for 36 years in both public and private education. She was committed to her faith (Catholicism) and was a reliable friend and family member. She never allowed health problems to interfere with family time. Kathy will never be forgotten, and will always be loved and remembered. She loved reading and helping any young person she could. Kathy was an avid online shopper.
No services are scheduled at this time but, Mass Intention at St. Charles Borromeo and a Celebration of Life will occur in the spring.
