Obituary for Joyce Jane Glenn
Joyce Jane (Cunningham) Glenn, 86, of Excelsior Springs, passed away peacefully in her sleep June 29, 2021. She was born in Carrollton, MO, Dec. 26, 1934 to Ray & Grace Cunningham.
Joyce loved all things in God’s creation that were colorful and beautiful. Flowers, blue skies, white billowy clouds, sunshine, butterflies, birds, especially hummingbirds feasting outside her window, and glorious sunsets bursting forth with multiple shades of color. Her Facebook posts always included her view from her own front porch which she lovingly called, “Heaven’s Edge.”
She also loved music, and could she ever play the piano - like a concert pianist! She could play anything you put in front of her. But, her favorites by far, were gospel filled hymns from her hymnals.
Joyce was passionate about God’s Word and especially prophecy as she couldn’t wait to meet her Savior face to face. She filled her days with hours of listening to music, various Bible speakers and many sermons every day. Of course, she also loved the good old TV shows like Andy Griffith, Hazel, and Leave It to Beaver; not to mention any Hallmark movie ever made.
She was an active member of Mosby Baptist Church where she loved to serve until she could no longer due to growing health complications making her too weak to attend. Her presence was greatly felt and she will surely be missed.
Joyce loved chocolate and peanut butter ice cream – actually she loved all ice cream. There was always some in her freezer. And she was a formidable appoint in Words with Friends.
Joyce is survived by her daughter, Lori (Tim) Juhnke; 2 brothers, Pat Cunningham, Norborne, MO and Ray (Jill) Cunningham, Columbia, MO; four grandsons who all chose to serve our country in U.S. Armed Forces; six great grandchildren ( plus 3 more due this Oct.); and a multitude of loving and adoring nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by both parents, her adoring husband, John R Glenn, and her one and only favorite son, John Timothy Glenn.
Funeral services to be held at 11AM Thursday July 8, 2021 at Mosby Baptist church with a visitation from 10-11 AM. Followed by a private family burial @ Terrace park where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband and son.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a Memorial Donation to Souder Family Funeral Home, 1333 NE Barry Rd, Kansas City, MO 64155.
Please help celebrate the life of Joyce By sharing a memory or expressing your condolences to the family.
