Obituary for Joe Edward Ashley
JOE EDWARD ASHLEY
Joe Ashley, 90, Kansas City, MO passed away Sunday evening, February 6, 2022 in his home in Kansas City, MO. A Celebration of Life for Joe will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, February 11, 2022 at Gashland Baptist Church in Kansas City with Pastor George McDowell officiating. A visitation will be from 1-2 PM prior to the service. The burial will in Leavenworth National Cemetery.
Joe was born May 23, 1931 in Carroll County, Arkansas, the son of Harry Wayne and Fallie Ashley. He was a retired USPS employee and proud Army Veteran having served in France during the Korean War. He was a deacon of Gashland Baptist Church in Kansas City. He was an avid quail and pheasant hunter and loved training birddogs. He was united in marriage to Wanda Lea (Edwards) on December 5, 1953.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Lorene (Ashley) Breeding and Carthel (Ashley) Bergman, a brother, Ross Ashley, and his twin brother, Roy (Gene) Ashley. Survivors include his wife, Wanda (Edwards) Ashley; son, Allen Ashley; daughter and son-in-law Carol (Ashley) Gregg and Clint of Olathe, KS; four grandchildren, Katelyn Lea Ashley of Lebannon, PA, Rebecca Ashley of Kansas City, MO, and Ashley Lynn Gregg and Alexander Joseph Gregg of Olathe, KS.
