Obituary for Jimmy Dean New
Jimmy New, 52, passed away November 29, 2014. Funeral services will be 10 AM Thursday, December 4, 2014 at Faith Community Church with a visitation from 5-7 PM Wednesday at Souder Family Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to an education fund for his children C/O Faith Community Church. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth; 3 daughters, Rachel, Sarah, and Julia; his mother, Peggy New; sister Martina Fox; brother Cody New; nieces Brandy Fox , Brittany Daugherty (Rob); nephew Brooks Fox (Alyssa), great niece McKenna Daugherty and great nephews Jamison Daugherty and Tyden Swanson. He is also survived by family on his wife’s side: parents Robert and Carol Scheibe and sister Cynthia Scheibe. He was preceded in death by his father Bobby New and brother-in-law Terry Fox.

He was born and raised in Pratt , KS , graduated from Pratt Community College , Oklahoma Baptist University and Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He poured the gospel into the lives of the teens he worked with in youth ministry positions in Topeka , KS and Liberty , MO. In 1992, he met Elizabeth Scheibe in Topeka and 2 years later asked her to be his “lifetime roommate.” They married July 15, 1995. The Lord blessed them with three beautiful girls for whom he had the privilege of being a stay-at-home dad and homeschool teacher. To describe his family, he often said “I live with 4 gorgeous women.”

God calls us to be His “doulos” or slave. Jim strived to be a slave of Christ. He dedicated his God-given time and talents to his family and the Word of God. He was burdened for missions, sending out the Gospel to the ends of the earth. But Jim was most concerned for those around him and their understanding of the Gospel. He wanted those he spoke with to understand that they are dead in their sins and destined for Hell apart from trusting solely in Jesus Christ’s payment for their sins. Jim knew all he could do is sow the seed, and God would provide the harvest. Now he is home to the greetings of his Master, “Well done, good and faithful slave.”

Please help the family celebrate the life of Jim by sharing a memory or expressing your condolences to the family.
