Jane Tener, longtime resident of Oswego, Kansas, died February 10, 2016 at New Mark Care Facility in Kansas City, Missouri.
Jane Alice Tener was born on August 11, 1935 in Galena, Kansas to Robert E. and Norma J. (Marshall) Thompson who preceded her in death.
On February 23, 1957, she married Ron Tener In Galena. They enjoyed fifty years of marriage before Ron’s passing on April 22, 2007.
Jane, a proud Galena Alumni, went on to attend Pittsburg State University. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi and the Oswego Bridge Club. Jane never met a stranger. She was best known as the coach’s wife, sitting in the stands cheering on the Indians – her husband and her kids.
Jane served many years as School Board Secretary for Oswego USD 504 and retired as Business Manager.
Jane was a member, as well as the pianist and organist of the First United Methodist Church of Oswego, Kansas.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert “Buddy” and Gregg Thompson, and one sister, Barbara Jean “Peg” O’Hara.
Survivors include three sons, Mick and Missy Tener of Manhattan, Kirk and Chris Tener of Appleton City, MO, and Kerry and Lorri Tener of Kansas City, MO; and one daughter Lori Tener of Kansas City. One brother, Roger and Jenny Thompson of Lafayette, LA; Grandchildren are Klint Tener, Korri (Jared) Paden, Kerra Tener, Mitch Tener, Mallorie Tener, Trampus Triebel, Jud Triebel, Trisha (Josh) Miller and Allilson Brynds. Great-grandchildren are Lulu and Shay Tener, Haylee, Bryce, and Dylan, Kaiden Miller, Trenton Darbe, Kolbi and Kacie Paden.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at First United Methodist Church of Oswego. Pastor Bob Conway will officiate. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Galena, KS. Online condolences may be expressed at www.derfeltfuneralhomes.com.
