Obituary for Gary F Gibson
Gary Gibson, 80, passed through this life suddenly on September 28, 2016 at North Kansas City Hospital with his three loving daughters by his side. Gary was born on February 2, 1936 the only child of Donald and Abbey Gibson. He graduated from Central High School class of 1954 and went on to pursue a teaching career at NWMSU, Marysville, MO. In 1958 he married the love of his life, Shirley Dykes who preceded him in death in 2008. They had three daughters, Karen (Jim) Petree, Lynda McDevitt and Teri Shubert. Gary obtained his Master’s Degree and became a Professor with the Metropolitan Community College (MCC) system in Kansas City, MO where he taught for 40 years before retiring. Besides his parents and beloved wife, Gary entered the Kingdom of heaven just four hours before his mother-in-law, Ruth Dykes, whom he adored. Survivors include his three daughters, six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Also, many of his wife’s family members loved him dearly and include an aunt and uncle, nieces and nephews, and many cousins. A double funeral service for Gary and his mother-in-law will be held at 2 PM Wednesday October 5, 2016 at Rupp Funeral Home in St Joseph, MO with a visitation from 1-2 PM. In lieu of flowers contributions are suggested to Antioch Bible Baptist Church, Gladstone, MO.
