Obituary for Dortha M. Downing
Dortha Downing, Gladstone, MO passed away June 18, 2013 at Pleasant Valley Manor Care Center. Memorial services will be 11:00 AM Friday July 5, 2013 at Souder Family Funeral Home with a visitation from 10:30 to 11:00 AM. Memorial contributions are suggested to Cancer Action, 10520 Barkley Suite 100, Overland Park, KS 66212. Dortha was born June 11, 1921 in Lake Benton, MN to Drury and Garnet Matthews.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Holt, MO, the AARP Post 2970 and of the Gladstone Cancer Action. Dortha was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Downing; sister, Dorene Wickham. Survivors include her daughter Elizabeth Watson and her husband, John of Kansas City, MO; grandson, Erin Watson of San Jose, CA; great grandsons, Cade and Cody Watson and Justin Grant all of San Jose, CA; sister, Juanita Stout, Gladstone, MO; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
