Visitation will be at 1:00 pm followed by funeral services with Military Honors, at 2:00 pm Thursday, January 28th, at Souder Family Funeral Home, 1333 NE Barry Road, Kansas City, MO, 64155. Entombment in Leavenworth National Cemetery will be on Friday. Don was born February 2, 1931, in Kansas City, MO. He is survived by his wife, Jeanette, of 61 years, 1 child and her husband, Donette and Dave Mullen, 1 brother and his wife, Roger and Rebekah Dennis, grandchildren, Ashley Osterhaus and husband Ryan, Kaitlyn Sinclair, great grandchildren, Emma, Raelynn, and Alec. There are also nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members. Don will be fondly remembered as a sweet, loving father and husband. He believed in God and was active in the church until his health dictated otherwise, but he still read his Bible every day. He was an avid fisherman and duck hunter. Don was known nationally and internationally and had numerous articles written on him for his custom duck and goose calls. He made each call by hand out of various woods from basic to exotic. People would come from all over to his wood shop to buy his calls and get a few pointers or lessons. Many duck calling championships were won by himself and others using his calls. He was a champion for wildlife preservation and was an active member and sponsor of Duck's Unlimited. He had countless numbers of duck bands that are used to track the migration of ducks that he received certificates for. Don worked for General Motors at the Fairfax plant for 30 years and then he retired from there. Stories and funny quips..he had a million of them he would say..you just had to get him talking to hear them.
Please help celebrate the life of Donald by sharing a memory or expressing your condolences to the family.
