Obituary for David A. Elliott
While feeling the love of his family, David Ashley Elliott, passed away March 20, 2014 at North Care Hospice House. David was born on August 19, 1932 in Washington Courthouse, Ohio, to Edward and Corda Elliott. He served as a Captain in the U.S. Army and was stationed in France, where he met his beautiful wife, Arlette Filleul, while David was transportation officer and Arlette was an interpreter. David returned to the United States to complete his degree at Ohio State University, all while corresponding with Arlette in France, proposing marriage in a letter. They were married in Arlette's home town of La Baule and returned to Columbus, Ohio to begin their life together and start their family.
David spent most of his career in the wholesale grocery industry, retiring from Wetterau Foods as Division President. Actively supporting his children's activities, David served as a Boy Scout Pack Leader, member of the school board and freely offered sage advice, dry wit and loving encouragement. His greatest passion were his Ohio State Buckeyes, traveling, reading and current events all of which he shared with his children and grandchildren.
David was preceded in death by his parents, his infant son, David and his brother, Douglas. He is survived by his wife, Arlette; his son, Kevin (Marla) Elliott; his daughters, Nathalie and Stephanie and his grandchildren, Nathan, Allie and Christian.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, March 24, 2014, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 919 NE 96th Street, Kansas City, MO 64155. Visitation with the family shall be the hour preceding mass at the church. Private burial. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Blinded Veterans Administration(www.bva.org) or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (www.lls.org).
