Obituary for Dale J. Albrecht

Dale J. Albrecht, 72, passed away July 8, 2017 after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. Dale was born February 16, 1945 in Clare, IA to Edward and Bernice Albrecht. Dale was raised on the family farm in Clare. He attended St. Edmond’s high school in Fort Dodge and graduated in 1963. Dale served in the US Army from 1966-1968. Upon honorable discharge from the Army, he married Jeanine Young in 1968, and raised 3 sons and a daughter in Liberal, Kansas. For the next 30 years, he worked for Nash Finch Company serving as regional managing supervisor of the southwest division. After retiring, he and Jeanine moved to Garner IA and resided on the Young family farm. Together they opened The Olde Barn Antique store and operated it from 1998 through 2013.

Dale was an active member of St. Boniface in Garner IA, as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus. Dale very much enjoyed life on the farm, spending time outdoors, working with his tools, caring for his farm animals, including his beloved dogs Roscoe, Sheba, and Sam. As part of his antique business he traveled to various auctions and farm sales throughout Iowa searching for new inventory for the store. He took pleasure in visiting with the many people who stopped by The Olde Barn.

Dale was proceeded in death by his parents, Edward and Bernice, and brother, Charles. Survivors include his wife, Jeanine; children, Christopher(Corie), Jonathan, Daniel(Lisa) and Sarah; brothers, Thomas(Pat) Darrel, James and John; sister Anna Marie(Steve) Frohling; 3 grandchildren, Dayle, Hannah, and Mason.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM Wednesday July 12, 2017 at Holy Family Catholic Church with a rosary prior to Mass at 9:40 AM. Inurnment will be at a later date.
