Obituary for Charles Walter Lane
Charles Walter Lane, 86, transitioned into light in the early morning hours of March 12, 2022.
Charles was born on March 11, 1936 in Parma, MO to Charles William and Myrtle (Pruitt) Lane. And grew up in the Dexter and Poplar Bluff areas in MO. He joined the United States Air Force on February 23, 1955 and was discharged on January 9, 1958, spending his enlistment playing Baseball.
Charles resided in the Gladstone and Lake Waukomis areas since the 1960’s. He married Judy in 1977 and became stepfather to her 5 children ages 9-19. He worked as a delivery truck driver for various companies and retired as a truck driver for Southwestern Bell after 20 years. He was an avid tennis player, which was his passion. He was a member of The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd where he was baptized and confirmed.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Lane of the home; stepchildren, Russ (Cindy) Ham, Ron Ham, Randy (Beth) Ham, Tracy (Steve Griggs); 10 Grandchildren, 18 Great Grandchildren and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Myrtle Lane (Pruitt); stepson, Richard Ham and 1 grandson.
Memorial services to be held at The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, 4947 NE Chouteau Dr, KCMO 64119, March 18, 2022 at 11:00AM. A reception/visitation will follow to greet the family. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made in his memory to Church of the Good Shepherd Memorial Fund.
