Obituary for Carol Ann Burden
Carol Ann Burden, 77, passed away Saturday August 28, 2021. Carol was born August 8, 1944 in Kansas City, KS.

Carol worked at The Woodlands Racetrack, Sam’s Town Casino, and as a bank teller at Commerce Bank, Farmer’s Exchange Bank, and Blue Ridge Bank. She enjoyed jobs where she could share experiences with all kinds of people.

She was an avid reader, and loved nature, gardening, fishing, and her pups. She was a Chiefs, Royals and NASCAR fan and loved Jimmie Johnson. She enjoyed our Morning Coffee on the Deck to chit chat and “solve all the world’s problems.”
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, George D. and Juanita V. Moerer. Survivors include her husband, Donald G. Burden; children, Brian D. Unthank, Julie G. Burden (Meagen Webster), and Jill Burden Russell (Will Russell); grandchildren, Sydney Unthank, Shelbi Snyder (Nash Snyder), Miles Stucker (Sara Stucker), Koby Russell, and Tyler Russell; several cousins, nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren.

To honor Carol we ask that you donate to any shelter, book program, or nature center. You may pick any of the following, or a favorite you may have that is not listed: Chain of Hope Kansas City, Reach Out and Read Kansas City, Heartland Book Bank, or Bees and Butterfly Fund.

When I die
Give what’s left of me away
To children and old men that wait to die.

And if you need to cry,
Cry for your brother walking the street beside you.
And when you need me, put your arms around anyone
And give them what you need to give to me.

I want to leave you something,
Something better than words or sounds.
Look for me in the people I’ve known or loved,
And if you cannot give me away,
At least let me live on in your eyes and not your mind.

You can love me best by letting hands touch hands,

And by letting go of children that need to be free.

Love doesn’t die, people do.
So, when all that’s left of me is love,
Give me away.

Please help celebrate the life of Carol by sharing a memory or expressing your condolences to the family.
