Brian Donald Redmond, 69, of Kansas City, MO passed away January 24, 2026.
Brian was preceded in death, by his dad and mom, Donald and Theresa (Swope) Redmond; sister, Carolyn Steppe; nephew, Matthew Steppe; and longtime girlfriend, Paige Chiles. Survivors include his, daughter, Ashley Burnett (Redmond) and her kids (grandkids) Ava Burnett and Niko Bahamondes; son, Zach and Lindsay (Anderson) Redmond and his kids (grandkids) Cayden Redmond (USMC) and Elijah Redmond.
Brian(dad) had grown up living and loving the outdoors which continued throughout his life. From gardening and hunting with his dad and grandparents (south 40), growing up crazy St Joe town boys playing softball and hot-rodding cars, then teaching us kids how to maintain a garden and hold a fishing pole, hunting weapon… his passion for his “loves” was carried through to next generation. One of his greatest accomplishments was seeing the grandkids fish and hunt…knowing the life skills were going to be passed on. He taught many friends and family his tricks and secrets, some he kept only to reveal later. Still waiting for the hidden Morel mushroom spots?!
He was very driven and one of the hardest workers when it comes to places of work. He spent most of this life in Retail/drug stores. Starting around age 17 at Katz Drug stores, which then became Skaggs drug stores. Which later became Osco Drug stores for a long period. When he called it quits from Osco Drug, he made his way to top as General Manager. Took some time off and decided to drive a truck for a local vending machine company and then finally retiring at the Parking Spot by the airport in Kansas City. The Parking spot turned out a blessing as he met his best friends until the day of passing. Eddie and Chuck Swoboda, Jo and Rick Ballard. He loved telling stories and shooting the breeze with you all.
Our ritual Sunday visits and talks, without prejudice with the boys will be greatly missed. Many more stories to share, which Our family will have a celebration of life at later date (when weather is warmer) 😉. It goes without saying but In Lieu of flowers or donations…. “GO PLANT SOMETHING and PLAY or ENJOY OUTSIDE!”
Please help celebrate the life of Brian by sharing a memory or expressing your condolences to the family.
