Obituary for Bonnie Watson
Bonnie Jeanne (Mikesell) Watson, 70, of Kansas City, formerly of Bella Vista, AR and Ottumwa, IA., passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning, October 7, 2014.
She was born February 25, 1944, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Dale and Josephine Mikesell. Bonnie married her high school sweetheart, Kenneth John Watson of Webster on Nov. 10, 1962. They had two children, Bryan John Watson and Debora Jeanne Allender (Watson) and made their life raising their children in Ottumwa, Iowa.
Bonnie worked as a paraprofessional for the Ottumwa School District in the elementary school system. Ken and Bonnie moved to Bella Vista in October 2001, where they enjoyed fellowship with their many wonderful friends. In their retirement, Ken and Bonnie loved to go RVing, play cards and spend time with their grandchildren. She loved watching sports, especially basketball. Bonnie was gifted with the ability to sew anything to perfection, garden and to cook and bake scrumptious meals. She spent time helping others around the community, was active in her church and shared her passion of life with everyone she met.
Bonnie is survived by her son, Bryan Watson and his wife, Sherri of Olathe, KS.; grandson Eric and twin granddaughters, Sara and Anna; daughter, Debora Watson Allender of Liberty, MO.; and granddaughters, Makenna and Mollie; her sister, Nancy (Mikesell) Walker and her husband Charles of Encinitas, CA; her brother, Gary Mikesell and his wife Marty of Webster, IA; and many loving nieces and nephews. Bonnie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ken, her parents.
A celebration of life service will be held at the Methodist Church in Webster, Iowa at 10:30am on Saturday, October 25, 2014. The church is located at 203 Main Street, Webster, Iowa 52355. Following the service, there will be a graveside ceremony at Sorden Cemetery. Guests are then invited back to the church for a luncheon following the graveside service.
