Obituary for Allen Shields
William Allen Shields, 65, passed away on November 20, 2016 in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born on May 26, 1951 in Ottawa, Kansas to parents William B. and Patricia A. Shields. Allen is survived by his wife, Vada; his daughter Mindy and husband Tim; his son Matt and wife Angela; his parents Bill and Patsy; his grandchildren Ryan, Cheyenne and Liam; his sister Lynda and husband Jim; sister-in-law, Cheryl; 9 nieces and nephews and many beloved neighbors. He is preceded in death by his brother Lyle.
Allen was born on May 26, 1951 in Ottawa, Kansas. He grew up in Wellsville, Kansas and graduated from Wellsville High School in 1969. He attended college at Allen County Community College and Emporia State University, and worked as VP of sales for Express Card & Label. Allen married Vada in 1974 in Wellsville, Kansas. They were happily married for 42 years. Allen was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather; an avid supporter of the Kansas City Royals, Chiefs, and of course the Kansas Jayhawks. Allen loved traveling and exploring new restaurants with Vada. He enjoyed working in his yard and listening to Royal’s games with his close friends and neighbors (aka drivewaying). He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him.
Funeral Service will be held Friday November 25th at the Souder Family Funeral Home located at 1333 NE Barry Road, Kansas City, MO. Visitation will be from 10-12 followed by a memorial service from 12-1. Donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
