Obituary for Richard Allen Doak
Richard Doak, 73, passed away October 10, 2017 at his home. Funeral services will be 11 AM Friday October 13, 2017 at Gashland United Methodist Church with a visitation from 5-7 PM Thursday evening at the church. Burial with full military honors will be 3 PM in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, MO.
Richard was born October 2, 1944 in Kansas City, Kansas to Forrest and Marjorie Doak. He graduated from North Kansas City High School in 1963. Richard married his high school sweetheart on December 20, 1964. He was a Vietnam Air Force Veteran and a military police canine handler. After the military he worked for TWA Airlines as a ramp and grounds crew serviceman retiring after 30 years of service. Richard enjoyed participating and watching many sporting activities especially golf. He also followed his children’s and grandchildren’s with great enthusiasm especially his daughter’s volleyball teams. Richard was strong in his Christian faith and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Richard loved his family dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Forrest and Marjorie Doak; and an infant sister, Donna. Survivors include his loving wife of almost 53 years, Linda Doak; daughters; Karen Rule and husband Brian, and Cheryl Scott and husband Steve; brothers, John Doak and Bill Doak; grandchildren, David Scott, Sean Scott, and Nathaniel Rule; his beloved extended family members, friends and military brothers.
